All of a sudden I found myself thinking sociologically when, I noticed how the parental influence on my little sister has changed significantly. She is 6 years old and now she used to want my mom with her at all times, when she came home from school, at the house, with her friends...ect. Well, she is beginning to get influence from her peers. She no longer wants my mom to meet her by the front door because it is now uncool, and it is more grown up for her to do it herself. But I still notice their impact on her as they teach her how to mini golf correctly, how to write more neatly and how to tie her shoes. I also found myself influencing her, from me being significantly older, she talks and acts more like a teenager than her friends do. I catch her saying 'like' in every sentence and she just mimicks everything that I do, because she watched me as she grew up. I became and influence on her.
( Mrs. Haas, i wrote this all Sunday night but forgot to press publish, so it was saved as a draft...I swear I did it!!! then)
Interesting to see how socialization is playing out in your own home. Good thing you're a role model for your little sister to look up to! :)
